Family Fun!
Last week Lane had a conference in the cities on Thursday and Friday so I decided to tag along with the kids for a little family get away. We took off Wednesday night and came back Friday afternoon. While Lane was in his meetings the kids and I relaxed in the hotel. Jacob went swimming most of Thursday and Friday morning before we left. Thursday afternoon I decided to see how MaKena would do in the water. She loves her baths so I was hoping she would love the pool. And she did. She splashed so much she got her hair all wet. It was cute. Thursday night Uncle Brec (Lane’s oldest brother) and Isabel (Brec’s 4 year old daughter) came to visit us. It was fun to see them. After they left Lane wanted to take MaKena swimming so we all headed back down to the pool. Once again she enjoyed the water. All and all it was a fun little trip. I’ve added some pictures of the kids swimming. I have video clips but I’ll have to add those later. Hope you enjoy!
Busy, busy, busy!
Boy have I been slacking. Sorry for the delay in updates. It’s hard to believe its October. Where did September go? We’ve been keeping ourselves busy that’s for sure. Jacob has been busy with soccer, school and boy scouts and MaKena…………well..……..she’s just busy. Lane and I have been busy with stuff around the house and chasing after the rug rats! We did manage to get the second bathroom painted a couple weekends ago. It’s nice to finally have color in one room. I’m sure we’ll splash some more color soon.
Little Miss MaKena had her 9 month doctor appointment on the 26th of September. When I say little I mean little! When the nurse put her on the scale I was shocked. She weighs a whopping 16 pounds 10 ounces (12%). Lane and I were guessing in the car before we got to her appointment. We weren’t even close. Lane said 18 pounds 6 ounces and I said 19 pounds and some odd ounces. I have to admit I was a little worried at first but her doctor said she’s fine. She’s just little! She was 27 inches long (28%) and her head was 47 cm (98%). MaKena has certainly kept us on our toes. She is crawling all over the place and now she has figured out how to pull herself up on everything she can. I have a feeling those little legs are going to figure out how to walk and off she’ll go. She hasn’t gotten any new teeth yet but I can tell that the top two have moved down in her gums. Hopefully they come soon. She’s also learned how to clap her hands and do “so big”. It’s so darn cute. I’ll have to try and get a video clip to show you. She’s getting smart, every time I take the camera out she comes crawling over to me. I think she has the same obsession as her big brother. She loves buttons!
Jacob just finished soccer for the fall. Their last game was supposed to be last Saturday but because of the rain it got cancelled. Jacob was bummed. So we wait until next spring for more soccer fun! Jacob joined boy scouts this year too. That’s been keeping him and Lane busy. After the first meeting I think Lane came home more excited than Jacob. It was priceless! Lane was teaching Jacob the special hand sign or whatever it’s called. Very funny! For boy scouts they have to sell popcorn. I’ve never seen a kid so excited to go out and sell something. Maybe he’ll be a salesman! School has been keeping Jacob very busy this year. He’s had a lot more homework this year. We’ve had to do lots of reading, math and spelling. So far he’s had one math test and another one coming up, a social studies test and several spelling test. So far he’s done very well on all of them. He’s a smart kid!
Hope you all enjoy the week/weekend. I’ve added some pictures. I’ll try to get some pictures of the house and post them soon. Along with some video clips of MaKena clapping and climbing.
