Gunnar John

He's arrived. The newest member of the Redfield clan - Gunnar John Baukol was born Wednesday, June 23rd at 8:09 am weighing in at 8lbs 2.7oz and 20.5 inches long. Proud parents are Jen and Nate. Mom and baby are doing great! Big sister Emma is in love with her baby brother already! (Sorry the quality of the pictures isn't that good, they were taken with cell phones. I'll have to take the pictures off my camera and upload more when I get a chance.) But you can take my word, he is adorable and perfect!!

From soccer to baseball

Jacob has finished soccer for the year and is now onto baseball. The past two years Jacob has played baseball through the park district. They didn’t keep score or play 3 outs. Every kid got to bat and every kid played in the field whether there were 9 kids or more. This year he is playing Babe Ruth baseball, which is much more enjoyable to watch. They play 3 outs and keep score. I forgot how much fun it is to watch baseball. Jacob is still learning a lot but with each game he is getting better. The kids don’t pitch yet; instead they have a pitching machine. They do play all the other positions though, including catcher. If you’re looking for something to do on Friday nights, you can catch a fun 9 year old Babe Ruth baseball game or two until the end of July!!

Swing Its a hit! These soccer pictures are from the last weekend of soccer. He must have been having a good conversation with the goalie! Jacob supporting his new hair cut! Jacob's entire soccer team and his two coaches after the last game. It sure was a fun season. (Do you see Jacob? He is in the middle in the green shorts.)

The Fargo Marathon - Kids Mile

On May 20th Jacob took part in the kids mile in the Fargo marathon. This is the 2nd year that he’s taken part in the kid’s marathon. It was cute, while we were standing in line waiting for his age group to be called I noticed Jacob was real quiet so I asked him if he was nervous and he said “kind of.” I told him to just do his best and he would do just fine. I was more worried about him getting run over (ran over??) by a heard of kids. I had strict instructions from him this year seeing as last year I didn’t see him run. There were so many kids, what a zoo!! I was told by Jacob that I needed to make sure I was watching for him and try and get a picture! This year I saw him run and I got a picture. Granted the picture didn’t turn out very well but I got one!! Now he wants to try the 5K next year. I guess I better get my butt in gear so I can run with him.

Another quick picture of my runner waiting for the run to start.
Jacob finishing the race. (I told you it wasn't a good picture!!)

Our little gymnast!

MaKena finished up her first session of gymnastics the middle of May. At the end of the last class all the kids were given a ribbon for participating. MaKena was so proud of her ribbon. It was cute. She really seemed to enjoy gymnastics so I think we’ll sign her up again next fall. After the first class I really didn’t know what we got ourselves into with this gymnastics stuff. She didn’t want to do anything but jump in the pit. With each class she opened up and tried more things. She really loved to hang from the bars and jump on the trampoline. I think it also helped her learn to take turns but I’m sure that will be short lived!! All and all it was a fun experience and I look forward to signing her up in the fall.

MaKena at gymnastics. I'm not sure what she is pointing at but she thought it was cool!
Daddy and MaKena in the pit. This is one of MaKena's favorite things to do at gymnastics, jump in the pit.

Getting ready to learn how to do a cartwheel.

MaKena doing her Ta Da for the teacher and receiving her ribbon.
MaKena showing Nana, Papa, Grandma Kathy and Jacob her stamps. She was so proud of herself!

I'm way behind!

WOW! I am so behind on blogging. Sorry for the delay in updates. We’ve been so busy with house stuff that I don’t have the ambition or motivation to sit in front of the computer and load the pictures. I promise to post more updates this week. (I hope!!) For now, here is a picture of Jacob on the last day of school with his teacher. It’s hard to believe he has completed 3rd grade and will be a 4th grader next year. I really enjoyed his teacher this year. She was a very outgoing and energetic teacher. I could really tell she loves her job. I have a feeling Jacob is going to miss her next year.
