Nothing new, just a few pictures

Sorry, I’ve been kind of lazy about updating lately. I haven’t gotten around to taking the pictures off the camera so I don’t have any new pictures. Except the ones I took on my cell phone of Little Miss MaKena. I promise to have an update soon. But for now, enjoy the not so good quality pictures of MaKena!!

One sick little girl

This week has been an interesting week for our Little Miss MaKena. On Monday I got a call from daycare informing me that MaKena had a temp of 104. So I rushed out of work and picked her up and took her to the clinic. By the time we got there and got called back her temp had dropped a lot. Of course they took her temp in her ear but didn’t really get it in her ear so I wasn’t satisfied with what they told me. When we got home I took her temp and it was still at 100.7. Tuesday morning MaKena was still running a temp so she hung out with daddy in the morning and mommy in the afternoon. I thought maybe it was because she’s teething but the nurse informed me that their temp shouldn’t get that high from teeth. Anyway, long story short the little peanut was feeling better on Wednesday and today she is back to her old self again!! Here is a picture I took Tuesday afternoon with my cell phone when we were hanging out at home. Notice the black eye she has. We aren’t sure how she got that. She came home from daycare with it.

Vegas Baby!

What can I say; we had a blast in Vegas. The weather was perfect, in the 90’s the entire time. It was hard to come back to reality but it was easy to come back to the kids. It was so nice to get away and have mommy and daddy time. I felt refreshed after our weekend getaway. The other two girls and I were already talking about our next vacation as a group before our Vegas trip was over. I sure hope it happens!!

We did a lot of walking on Saturday and saw a lot of stuff. It was amazing at how much there is to do and see in Vegas. We saw the fountains and botanical gardens at the Bellagio, the Volcano at the Mirage, a few of us did the roller coaster at New York New York, Land and I walked through the forum shops at Caesars and we just missed the show at Treasure Island. We sat at New York New York for a while in the piano bar, which was really cool. There was so much that we saw but so much that we didn’t see. On Sunday we hung out by the pool and soaked up the nice warm sun. I defiantly want to go back again but I think the next vacation I’d like a nice relaxing one on the beach where you don’t feel like you have to go go go!

This guy was cool. He could bend forward and not fall off the block. He was painted with some kind of gold paint or something. It was really cool but he had to be extremely hot!

A day after piggies and Easter Egg hunt

As you can see from previous posts MaKena has been supporting piggies. Lane loves having piggies in her hair and how can I say no! She looks so cute with them in her hair. A couple weeks ago Lane and I were getting her ready for bed, I took her piggies out and Lane and I both laughed at what the piggies had done to her hair. I, of course, ran and got the camera to take some pictures. And my wonderful daughter loved all the attention Lane and I were giving her. She was even laughing along with us. Of course she didn’t know why we were laughing. She likes to copy. Anyway, you’ll see the first 3 pictures below are of Little Miss MaKena after piggies!

The rest of the pictures are of Jacob finding his eggs the Easter Bunny left. He was moving around too fast for me to get very many good ones. I think he was trying to get them before MaKena did. As you can see from some of the pictures she was helping her big brother find the eggs! Next year could be interesting!!

I can do it all by myself

MaKena is slowly learning how to feed herself. Most of the time we’ll give her a fork or spoon and she just holds onto it and eats her food with her fingers. It’s funny watching her because she’ll take her fork and try to stab whatever it is that she’s eating and most of the time the food won’t stay on the fork but she still puts the fork in her mouth. It’s cute! We are also trying to teach her some sign language but it’s not working too well! She knows how to sign more but that’s it. She’s kind of created her own sign language. If she wants a drink she goes to the fridge and pulls on the door and makes lots of noise or if she wants a snack she pulls her high chair away from the counter. I guess whatever works!

Emma's Birthday Party!

Emma Rose (Jen and Nate’s daughter) celebrated her 2nd birthday in March. (I know I’m behind on pictures again!!) I couldn’t resist posting some of these. They are too cute. See for yourself! I didn’t get any good ones of MaKena because she was too busy walking around checking everything out.

Emma got this pretty dress from Great Grandma Ivy. It has a little kitty on it so Emma was giving it kisses. If you look close (or click on the picture to make it bigger) she is giving it fish kisses!!

My First Piggies!

We finally got MaKena in her first piggy tails! She looks so cute and so grown up in them. Lane was thrilled! So was Papa Lonnie!

I love these kids!

MaKena had her 16 month check-up last Friday. She is slowly creeping up the charts. She weighs 22lbs 4oz. Lane and I were trying to guess how much she weighed. We weren’t close. Lane said 27lbs and I said 25lbs. She’s really packed on the weight, or at least it looks like she has but the scale said different! I can’t remember how tall she is but I know she’s growing in length faster than she’s growing in weight. She’s getting close to outgrowing some 18 month shirts, not the pants though! We found out that MaKena really loves to play outside. She has a fit if Jacob is outside and we come in when we get home from daycare. She loves to walk up and down the driveway but she doesn’t like to walk in the grass. Lane put her wagon together this weekend and gave her a ride in it in the basement. She loved it.

On Saturday Jacob had his first soccer game. It was interesting! They got beat 6-0 but he still had fun and it wore him out! Hopefully the next game goes a little better. He still enjoys playing so that’s all that matters. Last Thursday Jacob finished the first spring session of swimming lessons. He finally jumped off the diving board. I was so proud of him. He said it was scary but then he said it was fun. He finally passes level 2 so this week he starts level 3. He was excited!

Peek-a-boo! It was the funniest thing when MaKena would lift the flap up and peek out. She would laugh every time. Goofy girl.

Just some randoms

Things are good and busy at the Huseby house. Hopefully they will slow down, but it doesn’t look like it will anytime soon. It’s hard to believe Easter has come and gone. Now the next big thing…….Lane and I are heading to Vegas! And we can’t wait. We take off this Friday and come back on Monday. So it’s a quick trip but it will be so much fun. We are going with Eric and Beth Mauch and Chris and Cassie Tremel. It should be a good time. I’ll post about it when we get back, well, what I can post about!!

Jacob is busy as ever. He tried out for the school play over a month ago and they still haven’t been able to perform yet (they had to reschedule because of the flood). They have it scheduled for this Saturday (the 18th) at 1:00 and 3:30. Unfortunately we’ll be in Vegas so I am stopping in to watch their dress rehearsal on Friday. I can’t wait to see it. Jacob is so excited about the performance. He loves to sing so this is right up his alley! Not only has he been busy with play practice, he also started swimming lessons two nights a week. Seems like we are on the go all the time with him but its good. It keeps him busy, which is good. Soon we’ll be throwing soccer into the mix. I always wonder how my parents did it with 4 kids going all different directions!

Speaking of being busy, that sums up Little Miss MaKena. She is busy, busy, busy. She managed to learn how to climb up and down the steps last Friday at Nana and Papa’s. It’s a good thing we have a gate because I’d probably lose her in a couple seconds now. It’s amazing how fast she can get around. And boy has she become a little drama queen. She knows how to work those tears in her favor! I’m not sure where she gets that from! Her personality just grows and grows every day.

The basement is coming along. It’s getting to the final stages. We are so excited. Especially Jacob! He loves his baby sister but I think he’s ready for his own space where she can’t tear all his stuff apart. As soon as it’s complete I will post pictures. I can’t wait! Enjoy the new pictures below!
