Outside Fun!

A couple weeks ago Jacob was invited to a birthday party at Skateland. He was so excited to finally go to Skateland. He’d never been there before. Well after that experience he decided he wanted a pair of roller blades. So I took him out the next day to Target and picked up a pair of roller blades. He put them on as soon as we got home and off he went. Well, I guess I shouldn’t say off he went; it was more like slowly he went. But he didn’t fall and he had a blast. There are several other little boys in the neighborhood that have roller blades too so hopefully Jacob can get the hang of them and be able to go off with them. I’ve posted some pictures of him below and also some pictures of MaKena in her little car. Hope you enjoy!

Lane helping Jacob so it wouldn't fall over.
Back and forth he went. It was more of a walk than a roll!
Good thing Lane was standing there otherwise he would have ended up on his butt!
On his way back!

Big brother wanted a hug and little sister didn't want any part of it! She wanted the water bottle.

Color Time

A few weeks ago, I was trying to get ready to go somewhere. I was in the bathroom and before I knew it MaKena came walking into our room with some crayons. She managed to find Jacob’s crayon box and pulled some out and was looking to color. So I pulled out a coloring book and let her go to town. Later on that day I remember that Uncle Brec and Tina had given MaKena a giant coloring book and some kid crayons and stamps for her birthday. Well, I decided it was time to pull that stuff out and see how she does with it. She loved it. Except she thinks she can eat the crayons or suck on them I guess. Jacob thought the coloring book, crayons and stamps were cool too so he got in on the fun. You’ll notice in a couple of the pictures Little Miss MaKena has some black stuff on her face. Well she decided to put the black crayon in her mouth. I’m sure they don’t taste good but she keeps doing it!

The kids having fun coloring.
Jacob coloring and MaKena scribbling!

Can you see the black stuff on her face. Yep, that's from the black crayon that she put in her mouth.
Another picture of the black crayon on her face.
She loves to color. Lets just hope it stays on the paper!

More pictures of my little soccer stud!

Jacob played his last soccer game for the year on Saturday May 29th and it was the only game they won. They kids were excited. They don't keep track or get anything if they win but the kids sure keep track! It was a nice day, but of course very windy. It was the first game MaKena got to attend this year. All the other games this spring were too cold for her. She enjoyed running around and picking up Jacob's soccer ball. Maybe she'll be a soccer player too!!

This is a picture of Jacob and his 2nd Grade Teacher, Ms. Danielson. She was a great teacher.
Jacob really getting into the game. See his tongue is sticking out!
Running towards the ball.

My next soccer player!

We would kick the ball trying to show her how to kick it with her feet and instead she would bend down and pick it up. She'll get the hang of it eventually!

A day at the lake

Memorial weekend Justin and Laura were in town from Chicago. It was a busy weekend. On Saturday we attempted to take family pictures of the Redfields. Let’s just say trying to get 5 kids 8 and under to cooperate is a challenge! But some of the pictures turned out and that’s all that matters!! On Sunday, Jason and Jerene invited all of us down to their lake for the day. The weather was decent, not hot, but the sun was out. So the kids and I headed to the lake. Lane stayed back to get the basement ready for the carpet that was supposed to come later in the week. But that’s another story, we still don’t have carpet!! Anyway, back to the lake……..we had a blast. We went for a pontoon ride, the kids played in the sand and Jacob and Mallorie took the paddle boat out for a ride. By the time I loaded the kids in the car it was after 7 and they were worn out. MaKena made it as far as Hawley before she fell asleep. It was a fun day at the lake and we look forward to many more!! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Emma in the sand. She didn't have a problem going in the ice cold water!
MaKena playing in the sand. She eventually tipped this chair over and had sand in her mouth. She was not impressed!!
Karisa enjoying the nice weather outside and her cousins to play with!
This is a new face that MaKena makes all the time. We're not sure why!
MaKena loved the sand.
Jacob, Mallorie, Justin and Laura in the paddle boat.

Emma decided to join the fun in the paddle boat. The kids had a blast. I didn't see too much of Mallorie and Jacob because they were in the paddle boat most of the day!

See there's that face again!

The Slide

I have been searching high and low for fun toys for MaKena this spring. I’ve been waiting to get her sound outside toys seeing as she doesn’t have any. I’ve looked into buying some but WOW, they are really expensive. So I decided to look on craigslist for some garage sales. Well, I got really lucky and one Friday morning I stopped by a garage sale and purchased the slide in the pictures below for only $25. The lady I bought it from used to do daycare and she had this slide in her basement for the kids. It’s never been outside so it looks brand new. I also purchased 2 toys MaKena can ride on outside. I was pumped to get the slide home that night. When I brought it in MaKena climbed right up and slid down. She loved it. Now I can’t wait to take it outside and watch her slide down in the grass. I may even put it in her pool and see how she does sliding into the water! Oh the fun!!

She made it.

No words are needed for this one!
Here I come Daddy!!
This is just a random picture of MaKena napping. I thought she looked so darn cute sleeping on her little pillow that Auntie Carol gave her for Christmas. I just love this little girl!
So precious!

A sleepover with cousin Emma

Back in May we had our first official sleep over with cousin Emma. It was a blast. The kids had a great time. Jen brought Emma to our house Friday night and the two girls played together and had a good time. They even took a bath together. After bath time I put MaKena to bed and let Emma stay up and have a snack with Jacob. All three kids slept in the same room, which made things a little interesting. MaKena was in her crib, Jacob slept on the floor and Emma slept in the playpen. Well at least that’s how the sleeping arrangements started! In the middle of the night Emma woke up crying, which woke Jacob and MaKena up. Not a big deal, but MaKena thought it would be fun to stand up in her crib and say “Hi Emma” for almost an hour. It was cute at first but mommy was tired and wanted to go back to bed. Eventually we all went back to sleep. But of course the girls we up bright and early Saturday morning! Needless to say we all took a good nap on Saturday. We had a lot of fun with Emma and we are looking forward to our next sleep over with her! I’ve attached a few pictures of the fun sleepover.

The marathon

Back on May 8th Jacob ran in the kid’s marathon, actually it was a half mile. MaKena and I stood out in the cold weather and watched him run. Actually we didn’t see him run. There were so many kids it was hard to pick him out. But I was able to get some pictures of him after the run. He was so excited when it was all done. All the kids got a medal. And if you ask him, he’ll tell you he came 16th out of 300 kids. Is that true, I have no idea because I wasn’t able to pick him out of the crowd!! But he enjoys telling it so we’ll let him have his moment! Hopefully I can pick him out of the crowd next year!
