Chuck E Cheese

A couple weeks ago we helped Emma (Jen and Nate’s daughter) celebrate her 3rd birthday at Chuck E Cheese. The kids had a blast. Jacob’s been there several times but this was MaKena’s first time. The kids played and ate pizza and watched the show. MaKena didn’t want anything to do with Chuck E Cheese. She saw him from a distance and was excited but when I asked her if she wanted to give him a hug she said “NO”. She did give him several fives but only if I was holding her. I don’t blame her; he is kind of creepy looking for a little kid. The other kids sat by him and had their pictures taken and couldn’t get enough of Chuck E Cheese. We had a lot of fun helping Emma celebrate her birthday. It’s hard to believe she’s 3 already.

Videos of the Two Goofy Kids

While the kids were playing with the UNO Attack game I took some videos of them giggling and have a good time. I finally had to hide the UNO Attack game from MaKena because I was afraid she was going to ruin the cards! She got a little carried away at times!

Two Goofy Kids!

One night last week Jacob wanted to play a game. So he picked out UNO Attack. It’s one of the many different UNO games they have out. We started playing and MaKena wanted to play too. So I let her sit with me and put the cards down when it was our turn and push the button when we needed more cards. (I realized it’s not good to play UNO with someone that knows her colors and doesn’t understand that we shouldn't share what color cards we have in our hand!) When Jacob and I finished playing MaKena decided she wanted to play a “new” game. Her new game was lying on her tummy on the floor and hitting the button until the cards came flying out in her face. Who knew the UNO Attack game could be used for more than just that game! The kids sure laughed a lot and had fun.

Eagerly waiting for the cards to fly out.

I think those cards hit Jacob in the face!
Look at them, they are both watching for the cards. You never know when they are going to fly out of the holder.
What a goof ball!

Pretending

MaKena is really getting in to roll playing and pretending. She really likes to pretend to go to sleep with us from time to time. She even pretends to make food and get us drinks and we have to pretend to eat and drink whatever she brings us. She really likes to have her puppies (stuffed animals) eat snack with her. Sometimes she dumps her snacks out on the counter or her blanket and she'll eat them like a dog. It’s pretty funny. I love this age, well for the most part!! Until the meltdowns begin! Lately when we get home from work she'll play in her room and she specifically wants me or Lane to come and play with her. Many times she'll close the door behind us. I don’t know if she thinks she’s locking us in her room with or what but she isn’t happy if we leave! I've become pretty clever when it comes time to leave her room! I don’t want her to become too dependent on someone playing with her all the time but it is fun to sit in her room and watch her play. She likes to sit down and look at her books and sometimes she even “reads” them to her babies or whoever is in the room with her. She is growing up way too fast!!

Lying on the floor with daddy. We were playing puzzles earlier (I'm sure you can tell from the picture!)
Daddy had to kiss an owie!
Pretending to sleep except MaKena isn't pretending!!

The School Play

A few weeks ago Jacob was in his school play. He tried out last year for the play and got a small speaking part and had a blast so he decided to try out again this year. He got another small speaking part but was bummed because he was hoping for a part. Maybe next year! He really enjoys singing and acting and doesn’t seem to shy when he’s out there. Maybe he’ll be my little theatre boy! I can only hope!! I love going to plays. Although I’m not sure where he gets this from because I wouldn’t have tried out for a school play when I was younger!

The stage (aka the gym!!)
The name of the play was Walking to Venus. Jacob was part of the UNO Tribe. That's why he has UNO cards on his head!

A quick picture after the play!
I tried to get one with MaKena but she was more interested in the stars than looking at the camera!
