The Sleepover with Jen and Emma #2

The weekend Jen and Emma slept over was a beautiful weekend. Saturday morning we got up and ate breakfast and took the kids outside to play. The weather was perfect. We got the riding toys out and the girls had a lot of fun. Jacob even enjoyed hanging out with the little girls and playing. After the girls played with all the outside toys I decided we should take them to the park. The park is only a couple blocks from our house so we loaded the girls up in the wagon and walked to the park.

I'm not really sure what MaKena is looking at. Either Jacob or Emma.
We got this bike from Isabel (Brec's daughter). MaKena loves riding the bike. She can reach the peddles but sometimes she has a hard time making them go!! So we usually walk behind and push. Oh, and she doesn't steer very well either!

The Sleepover with Jen and Emma

A couple weekends ago Emma and Jen came down from Grand Forks and had a sleepover at our house. Both of my kids were so excited about them spending the weekend at our house. When Jen and Emma got to our house on Friday the girls went right to playing. It was fun to see them interact with each other so well.

After the girls played for awhile it was bath time. So we threw the girls in the tub together and let them splash around. Jen and I ended up getting the girls dressed in the same jammies that Grandma Kathy got them for Christmas. Emma was so excited when she saw MaKena had the same jammies on. So we had to get some fun pictures of these two monkeys. After bath we made some popcorn and watched one of MaKena’s favorite movies………..Strawberry Shortcake. I think we’ve watched this one a million times. By the time the movie was over it was bed time for the little girls. Jacob was at Walking with the Dinosaurs with Grandma Kathy so he got home just in time to say good night to the girls.

I ended up taking so many pictures when Emma and Jen were in town that I had to break it into several different posts. Otherwise I would have had a post with 30 pictures!! I’ll have more about the weekend Jen and Emma spent with us to come!

I love the look on their faces!!

Silly Daddy!

MaKena loves to read books and have books read to her. I love it! For a while she didn’t have any interest in them. She’d sit with you for a few seconds and the she’d be all done. Now we have to tell her one more book and that’s it. The other night after bath Lane was sitting in MaKena’s room reading her princess book. I’m not sure why, but he had on her sunglasses. I’m sure MaKena wanted him to put them on so he gladly listened. It was so cute I had to run and grab the camera and take some pictures. I have some pictures of Lane wearing Jacob’s sunglasses and playing cars when he was about MaKena’s age. What a silly daddy!!

So cute!!

Playing at the Park

We are really enjoying the nice spring weather in Fargo. It’s nice to finally be able to get outside with the kids and play. Thankfully we have a park close by our house that we can walk to and the kids can play. We walked to the park one night after supper with the kids and I brought the camera with to get some pictures. MaKena had a lot of fun going down the slide and swinging. Jacob and his friend Andy rode their bikes around the park for most of the time. I did manage to get a couple pictures of them playing on the slide with MaKena. She really liked it when they race her down the slide. I think MaKena could live at the park. She had a lot of fun and didn’t want to leave when it was time to go home.

Gymnastics

Earlier this winter Lane and I decided we were going to sign MaKena up for gymnastics. Some of our friends and family have signed their kids up for gymnastics and we thought we’d give it a try with MaKena. This week will be the 4th week and I have to say each week is getting better. After the first class I wasn’t so sure this was a good idea. MaKena didn’t want to listen to the teachers at the beginning when everyone was stretching and she wasn’t interested in doing the three stations they set up later during the class. All she wanted to do was play in the pit. Even mommy, daddy and Jacob joined in on the fun in the pit! The second week was much better. She listed to the teachers during stretch time in the beginning and was very interested in the stations that were set up for the class. After they complete a station the kids get stamps on their arms or legs. She was completely covered in stamps by the end of the night. She was running around so much she was sweating. She had so much fun. Last week was the third week and once again she had a blast. She didn’t care too much about getting stamps but she really enjoyed jumping on the big tramp. The first couple weeks she was scared of the tramp and would get mad when someone else was jumping on it with her. She doesn’t like to get knocked over on the tramp and there were several times she’d say “no baby, don’t do that” or she’d tell them to get off. It was cute, but I did have to remind her she needed to share and not to talk that way. It is so much fun to watch her run around and try new things. If anyone would like to come and watch you sure can! Her class is every Wednesday night from 6:50 - 7:40 at American Gold Gymnastics.

Outside Easter fun at Grandma's House

Sunday afternoon we headed out to my mom’s for Easter dinner. It was just me, Lane, Jacob, MaKena and Grandma Kathy. It was a very quiet Easter this year! Lane cut the ham for mom and we all sat down and ate a very delicious dinner. When dinner was done MaKena and I helped grandma clean up the dishes and the boys went outside to play. Jacob was riding the power wheels and Lane was shooting his pellet gun at a target in the backyard. (I should have taken pictures!) Grandma, MaKena and I joined the boys once the kitchen was clean. Jacob gave MaKena a ride in the power wheels while the adults visited. Just before we were going to leave Jen, Nate and Emma showed up and shortly after that Jason, Jerene, Mallorie and Karisa stopped by. The kids played outside for awhile and then we headed home. It was a fun, relaxing Easter and the weather was great! Thanks mom for having us over for dinner. It was delicious!!

We heard a lot of screaming from MaKena. She was really enjoying riding in the power wheels.

She was so proud of herself!

Easter Egg Hunt

Happy Easter! The kids had a great Easter. I woke up Sunday morning to a little boy tapping me on the shoulder. Jacob was anxious to find the hidden eggs with MaKena and didn’t want to wait any longer. Thankfully MaKena was awake too so he didn’t have to wait too long. I don’t who was more excited, Jacob or MaKena! The hunt was on! Every egg MaKena found she’d get so excited and we’d have to tell her to put it in her basket and find another egg. Jacob was such a big help. He’d let her get the easy/obvious eggs that were hidden but there were several hidden up high that he had to get. He was so willing to share with his little sister. He is such a good big brother! Once all the eggs were found the kids went upstairs to see what was in their eggs. Every egg MaKena opened she was equally excited about what was inside. It was fun to watch.

Later on Sunday evening we went out to Grandma Kathy’s for Easter dinner. I will update a post on that shortly. Hope everyone had a great Easter!
