The 4th of July

The 4th of July we headed out to Brad and Anita lake for the some fun in the sun.  MaKena headed out to the lake with Nana and Papa a day early as we didn't have daycare.  Lane, Jacob and I got out to the lake around noon on Wednesday.  It was hot already!  By the time we got out there we missed catching the pontoon for the boat parade that Lonnie, Ardis, Brad, Anita, Alexis and MaKena were on.  We watched from the dock and cooled off in the water while we waited for them to come back.  As soon as they got back we jumped in the boat and went tubing.  I was a little shocked to when Jacob said he'd go tubing.  He's a little scared of going too fast so Brad pulled them nice and easy!  Once Jacob was done MaKena and I hopped on the tube.  I was surprised she went but then again she is my little dare devil!  She loved it until we hit a little wave and bounced up and down a little too much for her liking.  She decided she was done after that.  But if you asked her if she had fun she would say yes with a big grin on her face.  After we finished tubing we headed back in and the kids played in the water and drove the 4 wheeler and side by side.

After a fun day in the sun we headed over to watch the fireworks.  It was a beautiful night for fireworks. No bugs and it wasn't too hot.  The fireworks were fun, they lit them off and played music.  It was very relaxing!  We spent most of Thursday at the lake and headed home around supper time.  It was another hot day at the lake and we were exhausted.  We did a little more tubing and splashing around in the water.  We had a fun time.

Lake time!

The Sunday before the 4th of July Lane, MaKena and I headed out to Brad and Anita's lake for the day.  Jacob was with his dad so he wasn't able to join us.  Brec and Isbel were out for the weekend and we wanted to spend some time with them.  The weather was great, actually it was hot!  But it felt great being in the water.  MaKena spent a majority of the time in the water.  I told her she was going to turn into a fish!  Later in the day Brian, Beth and Brynlee stopped over for a visit.  It was a lot of fun seeing them.  Brynlee really liked the water too!

Swimming in the pool at home

On Sunday, June 24th I set up our new swimming pool so the kids could cool off.  We had a hot summer and some days the only way to be outside was to be in a pool.  Our old pool was too small for our growing kids so we upgraded and hopefully this one will work for several years.  Lane and I even sat in it one afternoon!  The kids had fun splashing around and cooling off on a hot summer day.

Father's Day

For Father's Day Lane, MaKena and I headed out to Brad and Anita's lake to spend Father's Day with Lonnie and the rest of the Huseby family.  It was a nice warm Sunday afternoon to be at the lake.  Lane bought MaKena a little fishing rod and she was beyond excited to go fishing.  Eventually we had to hide the rod so we could do something other than release the poor fish she kept catching.  She was having a blast.  After fishing Brandon took MaKena swimming for a little while.  I thought the water was too cold so thankfully Brandon went in the water with MaKena.  They jumped off the raft several times and she had fun just swimming in the water.  She's a little fish!  Later in the day we went for a pontoon ride and Alexis, Brandon and Brad went tubing.  We all had dinner together and then we headed home.  We had a lot of fun spending the day at the lake.

More fun times with the Redfields

The Saturday before Justin and Laura left to head back to Chicago, mom invited us out for dinner.  The kids and I headed out early afternoon to get some good quality time with Justin, Laura and Dylan.  I stopped by Walmart on my way out and picked up a slip n slide as it was a very hot day.  Little did I know it wouldn't be just the kids that enjoyed slipping and sliding!  Yes, Jen, Justin and I took several turns.  It was fun but my body was not happy with me on Sunday!  (Thankfully this is my blog and I didn't post any of the adults on the slip n slide!)  After the kids and adults had enough fun on the slip n slide we headed inside to dry off and eat dinner.  After dinner we visited for a little while and then Justin went out and got a bone fire ready.  The kids roasted marshmallows and made smores.  Once it got darker outside they decided to play hide n seek.  It brought back many memories of all the summers we would play hide n seek with the neighbor kids growing up.  Fun times.  Eventually it got late and we had to say good-bye to Justin, Laura and Dylan.  It's always so hard to say good-bye.  It was fun spending some time with them.
