Happy 10th Birthday Jacob!

Happy 10th Birthday Jacob! I can’t believe you’re 10 already. You are an amazing boy and I am so glad God blessed me to be your mom. I hope you have a wonderful birthday. I love you to the moon and back!

I’ve added some pictures below as a little trip down memory lane from the last 10 years of an amazing little boy. It’s extremely difficult to look back at these pictures and see how much he’s changed over the years. The time has gone way too fast. (The quality of the pictures isn't the greatest as I couldn't get the scanner to work so I had to take pictures of the pictures!)

I'm helping daddy!

This is one of MaKena’s favorite things to do these days…..help. Or at least she thinks she’s helping. If I’m doing the dishes or making supper she wants to help. Sometimes I let her help and sometimes I don’t. It just depends on what I’m doing and if she’ll get hurt. One Saturday in October Lane borrowed his dad’s lawn mower to cut and bag the grass one last time. Last year MaKena didn’t want anything to do with the riding lawn mower. It scared her. Boy has she grown this year. I think she would have ridden all day on it with Lane. She loved it. Lane gave her a little ride around the driveway and sidewalk and when I asked her what she was doing she said “I’m helping daddy.” How cute is that?? Someone tell me how I can stop my children from growing up!!

She was having fun.

I love her face in this picture.

A little family getaway!

The middle of October Lane had a conference in the cities for work. The kids and I decided to tag along and spend some time relaxing in the hotel. We left Wednesday afternoon and got home Friday night. It was a nice little get away. On Thursday the kids wanted to go swimming as soon as we got up. So we ate breakfast and went swimming while Lane was busy attending his conference. I found out that MaKena has no fear of water. She loved the pool. After nap the kids decided they wanted to play on the toys in the pool area. They had fun pretend playing in the little house and going down the slide. When Lane got done with his conference on Thursday we all went swimming. After we at dinner we headed over to Brec and Tina’s house to visit. Isabel, MaKena and Jacob played together while the adults visited. We got to see all the hard work Brec has done in his backyard. It looks really nice. On Friday the kids and I got up and went swimming for a little bit and then it was time to pack up and head home. It was a fun little getaway and we look forward to tagging along next year!!

I think Jacob was a little big for the house but he didn't care!

Swimming! HA! Lane's probably going to kill me for adding this picture. I thought it was funny. We were in the hot tub and he was relaxing in the pool with MaKena's floaty and the ball.

The hot tub was huge!

A soccer update

Jacob started his 5th year of soccer this fall. It seems with each year he gets a little better and enjoys playing a little more. The last few years he’s had a majority of the same boys on his team and they’ve gotten used to playing together which makes it fun to watch. Jacob came close to scoring a few goals this year but just couldn’t get it in the back of the net. We’ll work on that for the spring and hopefully he’ll be a scorning machine!
Waiting for the kickoff. Jacob is #6 in the green.

Something must have been funny as he's got a big grin on his face!

Painting Pumpkins

Once again I’m finding myself behind on my updates. Life has been busy at the Husebys. The beginning of October Jen, Emma and Gunnar spent the weekend at our house. We had a lot of fun. Saturday afternoon when the girls were napping I went out and got some little pumpkins and paint so the girls could paint some pumpkins. It was a hit. They had a blast painting. Jen and I drew a pumpkin face on the pumpkins thinking the girls would color it in. HA! We were wrong. Instead they covered their pumpkins in black, green and orange paint. They had fun and that’s all that matter! Although I’m not sure if MaKena got more paint on her pumpkin or herself! We’ll defiantly have to do this again next year. (Hopefully Jacob can join in next year.)

Just getting started.
Emma started to paint in the lines but after she saw MaKena's she changed her mind!

The more color the better, according to MaKena!!
